What's Your Dealership's Culture? Don't Know; Watch!

Dealer Principals and General Managers have told me that they don't want to get crazy with their marketing or to promote a 'fun-at-work' culture. "I won't wear the banana suit, even if it does sell cars."

"Don't worry," I tell them! There is a comfortable, yet fun middle ground; you can have a culture that your employees want to be a part of, and that is appealing for your customers to do business with you.

I've had the honor of helping Street Volkswagen of Amarillo do this for years. It’s not a coincidence that Street's dealership mission is closely aligned with The Fish! Philosophy, made famous by the Pike Place Fish Market. John Christensen spoke of the importance of having happy individuals in the workplace. I agree with his foundational principles: choose your attitude; play; make someone’s day; and be there.

Check out our informative presentation to the international Dealer Kongres conference, and you’ll see this philosophy in action!

John Luciano, the Managing Partner of Street Volkswagen, and I were honored to share our zaniest methods and madness to an automotive audience, which featured dealers from Poland, Western Europe, and the United States. We provide practical tips on how to grow your dealership by nurturing your store's culture while embracing your community.

Please let me know what you think, and let me know how your business encourages an environment that your employees want to be a part of! Take care of your employees, and the rest will take care of itself! - Flo
